Frequently asked questions
The questions homeowners ask us before they sign anything, answered plainly.
Before you sign
What homeowners ask us first
Le devis est-il gratuit ?
Oui
Do you do free estimates?
Yes. We meet on site, listen, and put the estimate in writing with a schedule attached. The visit costs you nothing.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. Permits are usually the homeowner’s legal responsibility, even when the builder pulls them for you, so it is worth knowing whose name goes on the application.
What warranty do you give?
One year on workmanship. A workmanship warranty and a structural warranty are two different things, and both are written into the contract.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Most of the time goes into what you cannot see once the room is finished. What sits behind your walls decides the length of the job, which is why we look at the space before quoting.
Can I use my own plans?
Yes.
What is a punch list?
It is the list of small unfinished items agreed at the end of the job, from a sticking door to a paint touch-up. It should be settled before the final payment.
